The leaders at Mint Expeditions have many years experience in organising, preparing, and running both canoe and kayak adventures across Britain and abroad.
Operating across Britain, we have a number of upcoming adventures which you are able to reserve your space on. We cater to all experience levels, providing all the necessary equipment and expertise.
WHITE WATER KAYAKING
There are some great treasures of rivers in the UK and learning to manage your kayak through these turbulent waters is exhilarating. If you’ve never paddled on moving water before we can give you confidence, learning the basics of boat placement, reading the water, paddle strokes and how to stay safe. If you have a bit more experience, then water up to grade 3 proves an ideal playground for developing learned skills and exploring more dynamic river environments. With a small fleet of Pyrhana kayaks you don’t even need to have your own kit.
SEA KAYAKING
Exploring the UK coast and its wildlife is always a fantastic experience – whether it be high cliffs and exploring caves or long sandy beaches the sea is always an adventure. Learning to plan for the tides and tidal flows, getting to grips with maps and charts, experiencing differing sea conditions and wind strengths. Sea kayaking will always give you a lifetime memory and a whole new perspective on our beautiful coastline. We have a small fleet of sea kayaks so you don’t need to splash out on new kit to have a try.
DUKE OF EDINBURGH
Working in support of Schools, AAPs, Outdoor Centres, Mint Expeditions can help with the planning and booking of expeditions, provision of boats, safety kit, dry luggage, tents and stoves. We can take your group from an idea through training, planning, practise and qualifying to achieve the expedition element of the award.
ADVANCED OPEN WATER CANOE
Being able to manage scenarios and conditions when the wind is blowing above Force 4 can be a challenge in an Open Canoe. If you fancy tackling some of the UKs bigger areas of open water (Scottish Lochs, Estuaries, Lakes and Reservoirs) even some carefully managed sea trips (if conditions are suitable). Refining skills in both paddling and sailing your canoe can be both challenging and exhilarating.

Paddlesports are mint! – that’s what I think and that’s why we’re called Mint Expeditions. Canoe or Kayak, Canal, River, Lake or Sea I just love to be out paddling and I love to share adventures with people who are brand new to the sport or are looking for more challenging days on the water.
Sharing my love of paddlesport was the reason for setting up Mint. As a great introduction we run expeditions for schools’ Duke of Edinburgh scheme. Double canoes are an ideal to engender team work and explore some of the UKs inland waterways (Thames, Trent, Wye, Severn).
Mint Expeditions can tailor your adventure based on your experience – if you own no paddlesport kit then we can outfit you for your adventure. If you are well kitted out with your own equipment then again we are happy to help you achieve your goals.

I started canoeing when I was a kid in the North East of England where I learnt to kayak on the local rivers and the fantastic Northumbrian Coast. Spending much of my spare time exploring or surfing the coast and inland waterways. I was then lucky enough to move to the south coast and the Poole area became my playground, with sea kayaking trips along the Jurassic Coast, touring around Poole Harbour and white water trips to the Rivers Dart and Usk.
